Craft Barn Challenge Q&L

Over at the Craft Barn they have started a new Challenge for 2014 called ‘Quotes and Lyrics’. If you would like to know more please click on the link here. I haven’t joined in any of the Craft Barn Challenges before, loved the theme and here i am.

The two words we were given to use this week are “Smile and Up”, you don’t have to use both, see the link for a complete break down of the rules.

I found a song from Carol King that i really like called Beautiful, see her performing her song here.

Printed the Lyrics onto copy paper, cut into verses, used clear gesso to apply to an index card. I got the idea to use an index card from the lovely Claire over at her Blog, thank you Claire.

The text folds over onto the rear of the iCard, am decorating the back as well.

P1050721

Used Pan Pastels Permanent Dark Red and Turquoise for the base, sealed with a fixative then went over the whole surface with Silver, used fixative again. Added a hint of Light Gold to add a little warmth, with a final layer of fixative.

Used stencils from TCW and one i had custom made for me by GlitzCraft Ltd to add some depth, applied Pan Pastels through the Flower stencil and Fresco Paints Squid Ink and Toffee through the circles and hexagon using a baby wipe to knock it back. Added a final layer of Silver Pan Pastel over the entire iCard as i love how it adds a little shimmer.

P1050725

The back of the iCard where i will write the details and date, which has also been given a final coat of Silver Pan Pastel.

P1050723

The Lyrics read, ‘You’ve got to get up every morning with a smile on your face and show the World all the love in your heart’. Who else but Tinglyitchiness could bring a smile and melt your heart. Coloured Tingly using Pan Pastels.

P1050734

I added the heart, again coloured using Pan Pastels and which has been doodled on by me, as i thought that the card was missing something. Mounted the Lyrics onto a piece of black card which has been coloured using 3 different coloured Metallic Pan Pastels.

Used a white Posca Pen to add all the white detailing.

P1050736

Completed rear of the iCard with all the Challenge details.

Would also like to enter this into the Pan Pastel Challenge Week 2,Silver Linings.

Thanks for dropping by, looking forward to reading your comments. xxx

New Pan Pastels

I ordered 12 new Pan Pastel colours on 3rd Jan 2014 they arrived Friday 10th. Not had time to open them until today, here are the new colours.

P1050691

Made a chart for myself to show the actual colour, then watered down, then 2 coats and then using Versamark Ink.

P1050692

Will do another chart to show them as base coat under the Metallic colours, think they will look amazing. My favourite colours from the chart so far are the Turquoise (bottom left) and the Red Oxides, which is a surprise to me but don’t they look fantastic!

Thanks for dropping by.

Christmas Cards All Year

January 2014 and a new challenge site where we get to create Christmas cards all year, yes you read that correctly, all year! Go here to read more.

Made six cards this week, am definitely on a roll as my hands are not too bad at the moment.

Cards 1-4

All created from cards i made in December, they were to test out different finishes. Once i looked at them again i cut off the area that contained the writing and decided to try a new curvy shaped front.

All the cards were created using Pan Pastel backgrounds on the main area and a mixture of Fresco Paints, Portfolio Pastels and Promarkers.

P1050640

P1050641

P1050642

P1050643

All sentiments are from Dyan Reaveley, i love them they are so funny!

P1050646

Love Karin from Stampotique, added googly eyes to make her look like she is having way too good a time!

P1050647

Peggy from Stampotique just looks like she is getting sore eyes making so many Christmas decorations.

I am entering these cards into the challenge over at Christmas Fun Challenge Blog and

Pan Pastel Challenge Blog, where frost or snow is the theme.

Thanks for looking, looking forward to your comments. xxx

ATC Swap January 2014

Time for our first ATC challenge of 2014 with the lovely Sarah Dunkley. This month’s theme for our swap is ‘Feathers’.

I was going to go down the route of using just feathers on the ATC’s but after a ponder this is what i came up with.

No.1 Swan Feathers

P1050636

My lovely OH purchased me a copy of Get Stamping from WH Smith just before Christmas, it comes with a free set of stamps, chose the swans.

The ATC is black card, used Metallic Pan Pastels over Versamark Ink to achieve the finish over the leaves and the sentiment. Stamped the swans again with Versamark Ink and added silver pearl embossing powder. Drew around the shapes with a white fine tipped Posca Pen.

No.2 Owl Feathers

P1050637

I really do LOVE my Stampotique characters, this monster is by a lady called Kira Nichols and the stamp is called Little Hoo Hoo.

Used the feather stamp from the Get Stamping magazine to represent the feathers Little Hoo Hoo lost while the monster was getting hold of him lol.

Just had to take a break from writing this as my OH has returned with my parcel of Pan Pastels i ordered on 3 Jan, so many lovely colours! That means my Pan Pastel Family has grown from 8 to 20 not including my 6 Metallic colours, which are my favourites, love to add them on top of my colours the effect always makes me smile.

Shall resume my waffling now lol…

Used a combination of Portfolio Pastels and Pan Pastels to colour the Monster and owl, they work really well together. Glued them both in place using PVA glue. Used the Bronze Metallic Pan Pastel to colour the background, using Kraft Card masks the colour but in real life you can see a tad of sparkle.

Stamped the sentiment onto white card from stash and glued into place using PVA Glue.

No.3 Peacock Feathers

P1050638

Tinglyitchiness is one of the new Daniel Torrente characters at Stampotique. He is definitely my favourite so far (and i love them all!!!).

I can relate to this character so much. I itch a lot, get tingles everywhere and feel so out of sorts it is not a comfortable place to be, BUT on the inside he feels like a peacock feather, colourful and beautiful.

I didn’t colour him in on purpose as i see through him to the beauty inside. I hope you can see that too.

Used Versamark Ink to stamp the peacock feather, then dusted over with blue and green very lightly.

Used cornflower Blue Archival Ink to stamp Tinglyitchiness and Black Archival to stamp my favourite sentiment ever.  I purchased this stamp many years ago and use it often as i truly believe, ‘The Journey Is The Reward’.

P1050635

P1050639

Here they are together, front and rear views.

Sent them in some more Mail Art Envelopes.

P1050632

P1050633

Used Copper Metallic Pan Pastels to colour the whole envelope then stamped the feathers and banner from the Get Stamping set and Tinglyitchiness from Stampotique, used Watering Can Archival Ink.

When using the pan Pastels i use a fixative to spray and set the colours between each layer. Also helps when sending items through the post so the colours don’t rub off on your Postie.

I am entering these ATC’s into the Pan Pastel Challenge over at http://panpasteluk.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/wk-1-anything-goesfrosty-finish-pan.html?m=

SDC January 2014 Challenge

Over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge site this weeks challenge is to show your new stash. Kaz is the lady who has chosen the theme, she said she is being nosey and wants to see what everyone got for Christmas!

My favourite craft present is a tin of 12 Derwent Inktense Blocks and i also treated myself to some new stamps from Sara Neuman for Paper Artsy.

The mini canvas i chose started out quite well.

P1050653

P1050654

I wet the canvas before adding the colours from the bars. As this was my first time using them it was a bit of a surprise when i saw the colours, so deep and rich.

P1050656

Made a little block to place in the aperture of the canvas so i could achieve an even colour and for when i needed to adhere die cuts to the middle.

P1050657

I used the Sara Neuman stamps to add text to the flowers, then i ran the flowers through an embossing folder which meant you couldn’t see the text any more. Also put the leaves through the Swiss Dots folder and cut out the wording i wanted to use.

P1050659

Then i made a huge mistake and sprayed some of the Dylusions colour spray onto the embossed die cuts. don’t get me wrong i love the colour but there was no way you could see the text stamping over the flower.  Decided i liked the look and carried on, added some Treasure gold to highlight the paisley design on the flower and on the dots of the leaves.

P1050664

Also went over the canvas with some TG, it is quite addictive and add it to most things lol.

P1050665

added a Tim Holtz hitch fastener to the centre of the flower and added the coiled wire before i screwed it into place.

Hope you like this mini canvas created with new stash, thanks for dropping by Smile
