Altered Pickolinos

I have an old pair of Pickolino sandals which i struggle to wear but i decided to change the colour so i could use them as evening shoes.

Used DecoArt multi-surface Black Tie paint to cover the whole surface. P1070349

Before and after colours, original on the right.

P1070365

Both sandals completed with 5 layers of the paint, leaving to dry before adding another. This paint dries very fast so i didn’t have to wait long to get them covered.

Added two layers of the DecoArt Soft Touch Varnish, they are now ready for the next stage.

P1070367

Added three layers of Treasure Gold, started with Renaissance, then Sapphire and finally White fire. Added the TG to the flowers around the sandal.

Buffed up the Treasure Gold to get that shine going and there you have it my new going out shoes.

Have added two layers of waterproofing spray and they are now drying.

Hope you like the ‘new’ shoes.

  1. Wow MoH what a transformation, I love your 'new' shoes. The trouble with this blog hopping lark is that I now 'need' some Brusho's and lots more DecoArt paints :-) Have a fun weekend xx

  13. Well I never... paint on shoes? It obviously works because they still look leather and you must have been really careful not to paint the inside. Full marks!

  17. Stopped by to thank you for the lovely comment you left on my CB post. Thanks for the tip on stamping, but I DID use an old mouse pad under my file folder. I can only imagine what it would have looked like otherwise. Part of my problem was I used Staz-on ink and the shimmering mists stuck to the ink on the stamp.
