Q&L Challenge 9

The Craft Barns latest challenge has been a real tough one, there are lots of quotes on both words but not too many using them both in the same place.

The two words we have been given to use are: UNIQUE and FAME.

I found these lyrics from Glen Campbell and Steve Wariner in a song titled

‘The Hand That Rocks The Cradle’

the lyrics say…

There ought to be a hall of fame for mamas
Creation's most unique and precious pearl

It was released in 1987 as the first single from the album Still Within the Sound of My Voice.

This week i made a master board as i wanted to use it for two projects, this is the piece that is over after making the projects.

P1060610

Cut a piece and adhered it onto an iCard.

P1060617

Then tried my hand at some Zenspiration tangling. This fabulous way of drawing tangles is taught by the lovely Joanne Fink.

Tangled a frame, colouring in the areas with coloured pens. The words were cut from a book called Blue on Blue (the link is just to show you the book), the boy band, it is a fan book and contained most of the words and letters i needed to create this look.

Had to improvise and write a couple of the words myself as they weren’t easy to find, like the different fonts and the look of a ransom note lol.

The master board was coloured using Pan Pastels Pink and Orange, the stencil is a Sizzix doily die which i used Versamark ink through and then went over again with the same colour Pan Pastels.

P1060618

On the reverse of the iCard i adhered the two words we were to use, the title of the song, the year it was released and the Vocalists.

Hope you like the iCard. Do leave a comment so i know you have visited.

Thanks for dropping by.

Inspired by Keren Baker

Love Keren’s style and have followed her for a while. I adore her CAS card making skills. I also love to make this type of card so i am so happy she is showing how to create a Paper Artsy CAS style.

P1060605

My first card has been made upcycling a wire frame from a cheap barbeque as the base for the JOFY mini 38 to be showcased.

The Imagine word is a Spellbinders Shapeabilities Girlie Grunge Set by Donna Salazar i got reduced at a craft fair last year.

Stamped the image onto a piece of card which was over from another project, stamped it again in a tonal colour and then layered them together. Painted over with Fresco Finish Satin Glaze. Drew around the flower with a black Posca Pen.

Stuck the wire down using this amazing glue. This Collall Tacky glue is my favourite as it will stick anything down!

Received my Eileen Hull Sizzix ATB die on Saturday along with an a Frameworks Die, Honeycomb.  Used them both to create a fairly CAS ATB, my first one.

P1060607

P1060608

P1060609

After cutting the ATB out i used some inks onto a silicon mat and dabbed all the shapes into the different colours of violet and green.

Took the Frameworks die and using balsa wood cut out the honeycomb shape. Looks fantastic, stamped some text onto the outline, am keeping the small hexagons for another project.

Took one of the flower stamps from JOFY 14 plate and some words from the JOFY 11 plate and added them onto the block. Used Derwent Inktense pencils to colour the flowers.

Haven’t stuck down the smaller of the two blocks yet as they need decorating but you can see how they will look when more stamping and words will be added.

Hope you enjoyed todays post, do leave a comment so i know you dropped by.

Joanne Wardle Inspired…

Was so inspired by the Joanne Wardle CAS card over at the Paper Artsy Blog that i had to have a quick play. If you click on the link you will see Joanne’s post and how she made her card.

Must admit i have struggled to get the paper ribbon roses just right, i used an A4 sheet of copy paper and cut a strip from the longest side then followed the instructions. None of my flowers got anywhere near the size that Joanne and Alison achieved.

I did only have half an hour to make them and can see how to make them larger next time i play, so all is not lost.

Meanwhile i made this.

P1060589

P1060590

As my flowers were small decided to make the smaller roses into one larger flower. Added a doodled shape around and a stem.

The sentiment is from JOFYFO stamp plate JOFY 11, love the words on this plate.

I am entering my card into the Paper Artsy challenge with just over an hour to spare.

Hope you have enjoyed this project, thanks for dropping by, do leave a comment so i know you have visited.

Fathers Day Card

Made some Gelli prints a couple of weeks ago, made a card for a swap, also made two other cards from the plate. One has already been sent, this is the other.

P1060470

This is the second impression onto cream card stock, love the patterns here.

P1060497

Ran the front of the card through a Sheena Douglass embossing folder called Arches, lightly applied Vintage Photo Distress Ink pad and then some brown tones of Portfolio Pastels to the centre of the arch and doorway.

P1060498

The inner has stamps from Get Stamping magazine, thought it would be different to use ‘Make A Wish’ as the sentiment instead of Happy Fathers Day.

P1060501

Close up of the letters used on the front, i like acronyms and as typography is quite trendy at the moment decided to use some here.

A quick post this time, may i say ‘hi and welcome’ to my new Followers.

Thanks for dropping by, hope you have the time to leave a comment so i know you have visited.

Q&L Knowledge or Hurt Challenge 8

Over at the Craft Barn it is Challenge 8, the quotes or lyrics to use are Knowledge or Hurt.

It has taken me ages to find something suitable and i found it purely by accident on a gaming site called The House of Zelda. On this site you have to remember lyrics to gain access to the Thieves Hideout. This link will take you to the page where i found these lyrics:

"Sometimes it hurts too much t'care. Ya think knowledge is power, but it's really despair..."

The theme of thieves dungeons gave me the idea for the iCard. Am struggling to use my hands to stamp so have turned my hand to some digital crafting using Craft Artist 2.

My idea was to create something magical for the background so i took the lyrics and used different fonts to turn them into backgrounds. Used two different fonts, Covenant/Forerunner (the splats) and WC Rhesus C 2Bta (the circle symbols.

Added some characters from the Fantasy Medieval Kit and a the dotted frame. The lyric font is Courier. Printed this onto printable acetate, slight problem it didn’t pick up the detail of the background. I do like this version as it is more ethereal and much more like i would imagine a gaming dungeon to look.

P1060556

Adhered the acetate to an iCard with  glue that dries clear and then used my sewing machine to add a sewn border around the card and the lyric. Hand stamped the stars to add a little more mystery to their abode.

P1060561

Printed out the same image onto cream card, here you can see the background and other images much better. Gave this iCard round corners and went round the edge with Cocoa Memento Ink, the stars are also stamped with the same ink.

The backs of the cards look like this:

P1060557

P1060559

This challenge was fun once again. Hope you join in sometime!

Thanks for dropping by, looking forward to your comments.

A quick note, it appears that some mobile phones with a dark background are not able to read some of the post. Have lightened the font but you might need to turn up the brightness to see more clearly. Will try to rectify over the weekend.

UK Art Swap April 2014

I signed up to make a Gelli plate card, seeing as i had not yet taken out my  plate this was going to be exciting!

P1060468

Started off with Fresco Paints Lake Wanaka, Eggplant and Bora Bora. Splodged them onto plate and then brayered the colours over. Added some shapes and die cuts, the above image shows the first print.

P1060470

The card above was the second print off the plate.

P1060474

Above image was the third print off the plate, i added some water to remove the last of the paints.

P1060492

Ran the A4 print through an A4 embossing folder from Diesire called Paisley, rubbed gently over the top of the design to remove some of the paint.

P1060487

Found an X-cut A4 embossing folder that made a card back and front, ran some Centura Pearl card through, you can see the design you get from the above and below images.

P1060488

Cut up the Gelli print so could get two panels to fit both the back and the front of the card. Went round the edges with a gold Posca Pen and mounted onto Kraft card, did the same again. Adhered to the card then added some Treasure Gold to the frame and the panel.

The frames are beautiful and ornate, can see them being cut out to use on other projects but i am struggling to make this into a card by adding an inner and verse. Need to play  more with the folder and see if i can get over the initial why did i bother feeling…

Sending my swap and hoping that the lady who receives it, Adrienne, can use it as a card or something other.

Thanks for dropping by, looking forward to your comments.
