SDC 161 Flowers

Time once again for my favourite weekly challenge over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge blog.

Kristen is the hostess this week and here is her challenge:

We may be nearing towards the end of summer, and for most, the flowers are fully bloomed, but for me, some of the best flowers are yet to come. I love the gigantic sunflowers and the autumn mums, and for that reason, I challenge you to use flowers in your creations this week. Have fun!

Here is my take on this weeks challenge, it is a tad wordy and has a few images, i hope you manage to finish reading before you fall asleep lol.

This is an A5 size piece of card stock which has been a mop up page from my stamping and trying different methods of applying inks onto non coated card.

I enjoy the combinations of browns and blues to create backgrounds, helps my brain to relax and then i can add colours which i am not so good at using.  The stamp is from Happy Stampers North West show about 4 years ago, can’t remember who the manufacturer is, used Tea Dye DI to add some flower shapes to the background.

Have been collecting tea bags for a couple of weeks, drying them out and removing the tea so i can keep the outer paper to stamp on or make flowers. Saw this technique on Pinterest and found it fascinating.

Keeping it very simple i sprayed some Calypso Teal Dylusions spray onto a non stick mat then dipped bubble wrap into it and then brayered the tea bag over the top, got some fab patterns.

Used two sides of the tea bags to make the flower on the left of the above image. Also stamped Darcy Wilkinson’s new stamps from plate EDY09 onto single layer tea bag paper and adhered to the background on the left hand side.

Stamped the other flower from that same set onto the background and onto some plain white card stock. Wanted to colour the flowers to add on top of the stamped images.

P1070169

Used the honeycomb die from TH Frameworks to cover the stamped images and create a backdrop for the climbing flowers. The flowers were coloured with Inktense Pencils and then fussy cut. Used a wet glue to stick them in place.

Added the grass from EDY09 and then added some white and brown inks through a stencil. Forgot to say used Pan Pastels to add the light source onto the background.

Above are three close ups of the background so far.

A song had been playing in my head over and over and it became the inspiration i needed to finish the plaque. Here is the song, i do hope you like it too. Tiny Tim singing Tiptoe Through The Tulips

Twinkie and Moth Fab are on their 3rd date, he thought it would be a fantastic idea to take her into one of their local parks so he could show her some of the beautiful flowers they grow, this way he would be able to find out which one’s she liked so he could buy them when he wanted to surprise her.

Twinkie is not gardener and isn’t too sure what he is looking at, all of a sudden he starts singing ‘Tiptoe Through the Tulips’ to Moth Fab, she is laughing adoringly as she likes that he is making the effort.

Then, Twinkie stops and asks, these are tulips, right? Moth Fab gives him a huge hug and says who cares…

I do hope you are still awake, thank you for sticking with this long post and if you still have the energy i would love to read your comments.

It's a shame that drinking tea upsets your stomach. It's probably the tanin. Enjoy your coffee :D
