Playing Catch Up

With being unwell i have neglected some of the challenges i like to play along with. Today i am catching up with Claudine Criner’s Altered Playing Card Challenge. I do hope you take the opportunity to visit Claudine’s Blog and find some inspiration amongst her many posts and tutorials.

Week 7 was about the sea.

Both the altered cards.

Hope you can see the seahorse close to the ferns. This card has been gessoed before adding the colours and all the little bubbles.

Stamped the seahorse and the ferns onto tissue paper and then adhered them onto the card, wanted them to look like they were hidden from view.

Followed the prompts about using masking tape to keep an area clear for the focal image.

Stamped the Paper Artsy fish directly onto the gessoed background then added the words.

Week 8 was about hearts.

P1070618

Followed both Claudine’s prompts, loved making both these altered cards.

Wk8lgheartcrop

Used a Paper Artsy heart and used my own hand writing to add the words.

Wk8flowercrop

This one was fun to make used DecoArt Media Misters for the drippage. Had already drawn into the gesso the flower shape on the left hand side. Added a heart over the top and the words which read love of nature.

Week 9 (caught up now)has no theme.

Most people have gone for bright and bold using similar colours to Claudine.

P1070619

Used one of the new Mirabelle stamps and a cute Monster from Stampotique. One is for Christmas and the other just playing with layering and Spectrum Noir pencils.

Both cards again have gessoed backgrounds, but i added a layer of card which has been put through a freebie embossing folder of snowflakes, added rainbow glaze.

When dry added the washi tape and the monster which was stamped onto card and then coloured with Spectrum Noir Pencils.

Kept to a similar palette but more pastel, the background card has been gessoed and a design drawn into before it had dried.

Added some pieces of book paper, a layer of flowers from a freebie die and then the Mirabelle Angel which had been stamped onto white card, coloured with Spectrum Noir pencils and then adhered on top of the layers.

Hope you have enjoyed your visit, looking forward to your comments.

  5. I really enjoyed the Fish and Chips. It was so much fun. All of these are stunning. You put SO much into your art. I sometimes feel like I'm not doing much when I make my art. You spend SO much time with yours. Each of these is a miniature masterpiece.

  6. Great job catching up! I really like all of these--especially the drippy heart. That is a fun technique that I could see using again and again.

  8. So dear Mo - how does it feel to finally to be caught up? LOL . I have loved looking at everyone of your altered playing cards. Each one unique and beautiful in its own way. You really are quite the artist. It's interesting because altering playing cards is something I really really want to do. In fact - I have numerous packs of playing cards screaming at me on a daily basis. And I even joined a FB group but haven't had a chance to even look through the site yet let alone alter one myself. And now I will check out Claudine's website. Sounds perfect.

    With hugs

And thanks for visiting my blog as much as you do and leaving such sweet comments - really makes my day.

  10. Sorry to find you've been unwell... but it looks as though your Mojo is in fine fettle! What a lot of mini-delights. I think the Stampotique Monster is my favourite.
