Q&L Knowledge or Hurt Challenge 8

Over at the Craft Barn it is Challenge 8, the quotes or lyrics to use are Knowledge or Hurt.

It has taken me ages to find something suitable and i found it purely by accident on a gaming site called The House of Zelda. On this site you have to remember lyrics to gain access to the Thieves Hideout. This link will take you to the page where i found these lyrics:

"Sometimes it hurts too much t'care. Ya think knowledge is power, but it's really despair..."

The theme of thieves dungeons gave me the idea for the iCard. Am struggling to use my hands to stamp so have turned my hand to some digital crafting using Craft Artist 2.

My idea was to create something magical for the background so i took the lyrics and used different fonts to turn them into backgrounds. Used two different fonts, Covenant/Forerunner (the splats) and WC Rhesus C 2Bta (the circle symbols.

Added some characters from the Fantasy Medieval Kit and a the dotted frame. The lyric font is Courier. Printed this onto printable acetate, slight problem it didn’t pick up the detail of the background. I do like this version as it is more ethereal and much more like i would imagine a gaming dungeon to look.

Adhered the acetate to an iCard with  glue that dries clear and then used my sewing machine to add a sewn border around the card and the lyric. Hand stamped the stars to add a little more mystery to their abode.

Printed out the same image onto cream card, here you can see the background and other images much better. Gave this iCard round corners and went round the edge with Cocoa Memento Ink, the stars are also stamped with the same ink.

The backs of the cards look like this:

This challenge was fun once again. Hope you join in sometime!

Thanks for dropping by, looking forward to your comments.

A quick note, it appears that some mobile phones with a dark background are not able to read some of the post. Have lightened the font but you might need to turn up the brightness to see more clearly. Will try to rectify over the weekend.

  2. Sorry to hear that your stamping hand is playing up. Like the way that these have come together and glad that you showed both versions. Really love the stitching around the first card. Sentiment is clever...bit like a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. X

  14. You put a LOT of work into your I-cards. And of course, it shows. Digital art is something I'm not very good at. But I can sew a bit, so that part made my day. I never thought to sew around my lyrics. Must try that sometime.

Sorry to read about your hands. Hope they improve soon.

  18. How interesting that you see the detail so much more clearly on the cream version, but you're right about the ghostly nature of the acetate one - love them both, and what a great lyric!
