16th Birthday Card

A difficult age to make for isn’t it especially for a young girl. Had so many ideas which when i really looked were all too twee or girlie. Wanted something a little more elegant without it being too grown up.

Used Memento Dew Drop ink pads for the petal shapes. Used a Liquitex White Marker and ‘smooshed’ over the top of the petal colours. After they were dry stamped over them with a swirl stamp from stash and with a Darcy Wilkinson stamps from her new release set EDY07 using Cocoa Memento Ink.

Drew around the edges of the petal shapes with a black fine liner pen, then with a Sakura Glaze Pen and finally doodled around the shapes with the Black Liner Pen to add a little interest.

Cut out the sun shape from the EDY07 set, coloured with Kaiserfusion Pens, added Colall glue into the centres to adhere a small bead, then added the Glamour Dust. Added a doodled circle with the Liquitex White Pen. Raised the centres by using a 1mm pad.

The sentiment is from a Get Stamping freebie set, mounted onto black card and adhered into place.

Hope you think this is grown up enough for a 16 year old, looking forward to your comments.

  3. I think this is perfect. I love the way your design covers the whole card. It's young and fun but cool and not too girly or childish. I think it would be lovely for any age; but especially good for a 16 yr old. Gorgeous work! Julie Ann xxx

  5. I think it's great... the flowers are bold in shape and size, and the colours are subtle, which means it's definitely not girly, but very sophisticated - love it, and I'm sure she will too.
