APC’s Week 19 Steampunk

Claudine’s APC Challenge is passing by very quickly, we are already on week 19 only 7 more to go! Still time to join in so come on over and have some fun!

Claudine says:

I wanted to go with a Steampunk/Time theme this week. If you know me, you now I really love Steampunk, although I love it, I don't do it enough. So this week is all about Steampunk!

Recently i purchased some Shimmer Sheetz, never seen them before so had to visit You Tube for some inspiration and i found one idea that i liked very much.

The Shimmer Sheetz are quite easy to cut, they are made from Mylar and take embossing very well.

I cut one of the copper coloured Sheetz to the size of the playing cards and then ran it through a Cuttlebug Gears folder. Got a piece of 280 sandpaper and rubbed off some of the colour.

The technique that i liked from You Tube was taking some Blending Fluid and rubbing it onto areas you wish to remove the colour from. If you zoom into the images you will see those areas a little more clearly.

Took a tiny blob of Quinacridone Gold and Metallic Gold DecoArt Media Paints and finger painted some areas to highlight them.

Machine stitched around the cards to add another highlight to them.

Added the moth from Paper Artsy, their stamp and die cut using Grungeboard and added a word from Tall Collage stamp from Stampotique.

Sewed the moth and sentiment onto the APC.

Vellum is making a comeback and i found some very old embellishments, cut one of them out and mounted it onto a book page heart shape, then sewed into place.

Have really enjoyed working with the Shimmer Sheetz, i hope you like how shiny and versatile they are.

Am also entering this into the Paper Artsy Challenge 2 Shiny Stuff.

Would like to welcome my new Followers Elly and Wanda, thank you ladies! I will be doing a draw very soon to celebrate having over 100 Followers, so keep a look out for the post as i will be giving away a little something to one of you.

Thanks for dropping by today, i hope you have enjoyed your visit and look forward to your lovely comments.

  4. I've never used Shimmer sheetz, looks awesome after your treatment. And you can sew with it, unlike metal, very interesting. Both of your creations are great steampunk examples.

  12. I never thought of sewing my APCs. They are so heavily laden with gesso, I'm almost afraid to. But I absolutely ADORE what you have accomplished here.

I read and reread through the description of how you made these cards. That embossing folder really added the texture that I enjoyed seeing. And those mylar Shimmer Sheetz are really gorgeous. I like how you altered the colors by using the blending fluid. These cards are OUT of this world. I am always impressed with what you make, but this post was OVER THE TOP in beauty, techniques, and fun.
