The lovely Darcy Wilkinson has started a new monthly challenge for 2015 which asks us to alter a calendar. If you click on the link above this will take you to the post on Darcy’s blog where everything is explained.
I printed off a calendar so i could choose my images, i think i could have done a better job in choosing with a little hindsight. My January page looks like this.
I nearly forgot to take a picture of the page and had put masking tape around the picture before i remembered, in fact i haven’t taken many images of the process.
The image is a freebie from the Internet, the lovely Fairies are enjoying an evening under the Northern Lights.
Masked off the moon and silhouette and kept this part of the original image then used the Paper Artsy brayering technique to apply the paint.
Used DecoArt Americana Eggplant, Chartreuse and Turquoise multi-surface paint for the colours of the Aurora, then i added some torn book pages to act as the waves that we sometimes get. I went over these areas again with the turquoise and then toned it all down using Snowflake Fresco Paint and then went over the top using DecoArt Media Interference Gold paint.
A macro of the moons watery reflection which was made by adding a layer of DecoArt Crackle Paint, then a layer of Rock Candy Crackle Paint, wanted to add some shimmer. I do like how it has turned out.
The completed Calendar page for January.
The instructions for February can be found under the link if you want to get ahead.
I hope you have enjoyed your visit today and look forward to reading your comments.
