Fragile Papers–Paper Artsy

Paper Artsy have a new Challenge over on their blog, please pay a visit as i am sure this will appeal to almost anyone who crafts, it’s called Fragile Papers.

It was this post by Lynne Moncrieff that got me thinking…

Lynne showed that text alone can look amazing but i got carried away and incorporated a few of the techniques that i haven’t tried so far. Brayering using the Fresco paints was so much fun, more than i thought it was going to be and now i love it!

To start with i recycled a piece of card packaging from a well know soda drink.

P1070825

Covered the piece in DecoArt Tinting Base as i wanted a smooth base not a textured one. One coat gives perfect coverage and you use so little.

P1070826

Added a few little snippets of book page, a coloured tea bag, a teasel image stamped onto book paper from Woodware and the lower half of Mink from Stampotique who i used in another project.

P1070827

Over the top added a single layer of kitchen roll mop up, you can just about see the book pages underneath.

P1070828

Added a layer of Pan Pastel colours Burnt Sienna Tint and Ultramarine Blue Tint to tone it down a little.

P1070830

Next layer were the Sara Naumann stamp set ESN08 words using Archival Black ink pad.

P1070833

Brayered over the top of the words using Fresco Snowflake paint,  this caught all the texture of the mop up towel and i like the way it knocks the inked stamps back.

P1070836

A vellum saying had the edges softened and adhered on top of the inked words.

P1070838

Finally i added a couple of the free Lavinia stamps, the Fairy and the stars because you can never have enough starlight.

The bow was added and the corners cut off to make a Tag.

Linking my Tag to the Paper Artsy Fragile Papers Challenge.

Thanks for dropping by today looking forward to your lovely comments.

  11. What an absolutely fantastic project, Mo! I am definitely going to create a piece of art with these techniques in mind. I absolutely love this layering! Instead of stamps here, there is a definite possibility of layering one's own (and, perhaps, secret) handwriting. Thanks for the great inspiration!

  12. This tag made me smile more than you will ever know. I simply adore the tag you created. I have tried to heat emboss vellum before, and ended up creating a mess. Yours, although not embossed, turned out simply perfect. Lovely entry in the fragile papers challenge, and a great way to use something destined for the recycle bin.
